Bento = a complete menu in a box, very common in Japan.
Basically, a bento box is a box with a full lunch.
You can not travel to Japan and not try one.
You will find bento boxes of all shapes, sizes, prices and for all tastes, you will find them in the convenience stores, specialized stores and especially in the train stations.
Bento containers have several compartments and the content offers a balanced and attractive meal with healthy portion sizes. They can be plastic, wood or cardboard.

An ekiben-bento is a bento sold at a train station or within the same train.
Each station has bentos with typical food from that area. But there are stations, like the Tokyo station, where they have more than 150 ekiben with specialties from all over the country.

There are several bullet-train benthos sold throughout Japan and this is the E7. It sells for 1,300 yen. The box can be reused later as a lunch box or simply as a souvenir. What better memory of your trip in the famous shinkansen or bullet train japan? You can find it at Ekibenya Matsuri (Tokyo Station).

Ekibenya Matsuri. It is located on Central Street on the first floor of Tokyo Station and is open every day from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., so even if you are traveling on a train very early or late, you can still buy a bento.More than 150 diferent tipes of Bento.

The ekiben-bento is not only pleasant to the palate but also to the eye, its presentations are diverse, colorful and attractive, a visual and gustatory pleasure.
