I love London, especially London at Christmas! I spent the weekend based in Peckham but travelled far considering only two nights with only one full day.
On the first evening we arrived, we stayed at the Travelodge, arriving by 6pm. Then at 8pm we ate at Persepolis. A brilliant vegetarian, Middle Eastern restaurant with lovely, polite staff. I would highly recommend the feasting menu, it was sensational! I think this is one of my favourite restaurants I've ever been too!
During the full day, it was safe to say it was a busy one! We started off at Petitou for a lovely vegetarian full English breakfast and then travelled over to Tate Modern. I enjoyed visiting Tate Modern and found it absorbing and loved hearing about how different art works spoke to each of us differently. Plus I took pleasure in the view from the 10th floor. (You need to check it out!) We then walked to the South Bank for the Christmas markets. These were amazing but it did not seem as busy compared to my previous year when I visited the North Bank. However I loved the smells and the buzz around the markets and we still had a great time and we also all enjoyed a pancake! Crossing over Charing Cross Bridge to Soho we then ate at a Sri Lankan restaurant called Kolamba. This was a gem, the chicken was a 10/10 and if you like spicy food I would recommend it here. Our last stop for the day was to The Alexander Palace Theatre to watch The Christmas Carol- a Ghost Story. This was a fantastic show and I would highly recommend going to see a version of this show and also visiting The Alexander Palace Theatre. The theatre is aged but has character and I felt this added to the story being told on stage! It was a feel good, festive day all round!
Our last morning/afternoon we spent in a pub called the Old nun's head- there's a story behind the name. The Old Nun's Head was a lovely dog friendly place in London and loved the history of the building. I had my favourite ever roast beef Sunday lunch here and I would come here often if I lived local. So another highly proposed place to eat in London!
