When you think about amusement parks, what's the first thing that comes to mind? For us, it's definitely riding the biggest, fastest and scariest roller coasters! And, if you're a thrill seeker, this means a lot of screaming, laughing and face pulling.

SAW - The Ride

The Thorpe Park Resort has plenty of roller coasters and other exciting rides to keep everyone happy. The perfect family day out or, in our case, BIG KIDS day out.

Here are some high level tips from the Monsters' to help you make the most of your trip to the Thorpe Park Resort:

Book your tickets online before you go. This can significantly speed up your entry to the park and prices for day tickets are cheaper online.

Think about booking a short break rather than a day trip. Thorpe Park offers some great 2 for 1 deals and, if the park is busy, at least you'll have two days to get on all your favourite rides.

Download the Thorpe Park Resort App. This was the biggest mistake we made during our visit, we didn't download or even know about the app. The app provides directions to all the rides and up to the minute ride queue times.

Visit off-peak, if you have that option. This is a family resort, which means it's the perfect day out for the family during the school holidays and weekends. This also means it's busy and you will likely have to wait in long queues.

Get to the resort as early as possible. If you want to go on the big adrenaline rides then we highly recommend you get to the park when it opens at 10 am. Queue times increase significantly after 12 noon.

Be prepared to wait in queues. Queue times at the park can be anything from 5 mins to 90 mins. This does of course depend on the rides popularity, but if you are a thrill seeker and want to go on SAW - The Ride, Nemesis Inferno, The Walking Dead - The Ride, Derren Brown's Ghost Train and Colossus then be prepared, the queues can be very tiring.

Purchase a Fastrack Pass. We realise that many of you will be thinking; "But we've already paid for tickets, so why pay more for a Fastrack Pass?" The answer is simple, a Fastrack Pass means you don't have to wait in queues for up to 90 mins. Believe us when we say you'll be thanking us for this tip :-) We highly recommend budgeting for this additional cost.

Buy a Digipass. Getting a digital copy of all your ride photographs straight to your phone means you don't have to worry about spending out for individual photos. The photos are a great memory and, for £30, this is an add on definitely worth considering.

Keep hydrated. Standing in queues in the beating sun, if your visiting in the summer, can be exhausting and draining so it's really important to keep a bottle of water or one of the refillable drinks bottles to hand.

Bring along sunscreen. Again, if you are visiting in the summer time, don't forget to bring along sunscreen. Most of the queues are open to the elements and Chopster got very burnt on the first day.

Wear comfy shoes. We did over 17,000 steps on both days, walking from ride to ride, so it's a really good idea to wear appropriate footwear.

Make friends in the queues. You can meet so many interesting people, find out more about the rides and which ones you really shouldn't miss out on and... make waiting in the queues so much more enjoyable!
