Long Weekend In Tirana

On this tour a local guide will show you life, hot-spot

and main sights of this now pleasant and entertaining city. Learn the country’s history and traditions and relax in the vibrant streets of Tirana, home of around 1 million people.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Tirana, Capital of Albania

Welcome to Albania! We will pick you up from the airport in Tirana and drive you to your hotel. Set off a guided tour of the city in the afternoon.

Day 2: Communist History Tour & Street Food

After berakfast, we start our journey of the past at the Bunk’ Art Museum with a full – immersion of the Albanian history of the last 100 years. The ex – nuclear bunker, build to accommodate Communist Dictator Hoxha in the event of attack, tells us the story of the dictator’s time through photographs, items and documents. After we step out of Bunk’ Art, we head for “qofte” ( meat balls ), Yogurt sauce, patato chips, pickled vegetables and local beer.
Enter in the National Gallery of Arts for many socialist realist art. Powerful images give a sense of how “realistic” art was used to create propaganda. Behold the pyramid, the former “Enver Hoxha Museum”. Its once – white marble walls are now crumbling and full of graffiti. Discover its history from our local Tour Director.
Coffee break at Komiteti – Kafe Museum for some raki, communist candy and maybe some coffee also. We will walk through the Blloku area, where we discover the home of Enver Hoxha and other senior members of his regime. We will stop at the Post Blloku memorial, which honors former political prisoners, in an area once forbidden to enter. Finish your tour in Skanderbeg Square, watching and learning the history of the Clock Tower, Et’hem Bey Mosque and other historic building around it. If the group is at least of 4 travelers, in the evening you will have the chance to learn the steps of various dances in a preset restaurant. MEALS. Breakfast

Day 3: Tirana - Kruja - Dajti Mountain - Tirana

Optional Excusion: Dajti Adventure Park. Transfer towards the start of Dajti Cable Car and enjoy your ride with the view of the city of Tirana, its surrounding villages and the mountains.
Put on your uniform and gear and start one of many trails available (from low level-yellow trail to the most challenging level-red trail), all finishing with zip-lining to get you where you started. Neither top physical fitness nor climbing techniques are necessary to enjoy this adventure park. For children up to 7 years old there are easy games and trails available. Head back to Tirana via the Cable Car.
Optional Excusion: Kruja. We start our journey from Tirana, directly to the city of Kruja. Set off on a guided tour of Dollma Bektashi Teqe , the surroundings and the Castle itself, the
Skanderbeg Museum and the National Ethnographic Museum. You will have free time to wander around the Old Bazaar, with beautiful cobblestone alleys and lovely old architecture.
After lunch, we transfer to Tirana with a last “digestive” stop in the castle of Preze for a coffee break. MEALS Breakfast

Day 4: Departure

Transfer to the airport for your return flight home. MEALS Breakfast
