Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge Tsavo West National Park, Kenya

Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge overlooks a water hole in dry region of Kenya. This insures a steady flow of game animals coming by for a drink. Sipping beer while sitting out on the terrace overlooking the water hole after dinner, we counted 62 elephants stopping by for drink during the course of two beers. Now, there were many more animals besides elephant visiting the water hole, but, a parade of 62 elephants gets your attention.

As was the case at most of the game park lodges where we stayed. Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge was clean, with attractive, spacious, comfortable rooms. Food was excellent, service was even better.

Our room was on the back side of the lodge, overlooking a grassy plain rather than the water hole. The weather led us to open the window overnight. Sometime during the night, one of us woke up, heard strange noises, and woke the other up to check out the strange noise. It was coming thru the open window. We went to the window, and by the light of the nearly full moon, saw the field just outside our room was full of a large herd of Zebra eating the grass, The strange noise was the sound of lots of Zebra eating grass.
