Empire State vs Top of the Rock: Best Observation Deck in New York?

Okay, so you're hitting up New York City and everyone says you have to check out an observation deck. The big debate? Empire State or Top of the Rock. I've done both, and honestly, they're both amazing, but totally different vibes.
The Empire State Building?

It's iconic. Like, you can practically feel the history there. It's a bit of a tourist zoo, for sure, but standing up there, looking out over the city... it's a classic New York moment. Plus, that Art Deco lobby? Gorgeous.

Top of the Rock, though?
That's a whole other experience. The views are incredible, and because it's a little less hyped (don't tell anyone!), it's usually less crowded. The open-air platforms are awesome for photos, and you get this killer view of Central Park and the Empire State Building itself. Seriously, the photo ops are insane.

If I had to choose? Tough call. If you're only doing one, it depends what you're after. Empire State for the classic experience, Top of the Rock for the panoramic views and chill atmosphere. Honestly, though, if you can swing it, do both! Empire State during the day, Top of the Rock at sunset. Trust me, you won't regret it.
