Two of the Best Things in Minsk from the Cold War Times

Europe > Belarus > Minsk

Belarus is in Europe, but feels very different than almost all other European cities. The country still celebrates the cold war era - and if you are into this sort of stuff the city will be interesting for you... You can find things such as...

Lenin Square and Lenin Statue

Lenin Statue
The most famous square in Minsk is known as Lenin Square (its proper name is Independence Square, but it was at one point named Lenin Square). There is an absolutely massive statue of Lenin in the square - one of the only remaining statues of Lenin in Europe that is still standing.

KGB Headquarters

KGB
Belarus is one of the very few countries that still has the KGB. There is a huge building - which officially you're not meant to take any pics of.

Belarusian WWII Museum

This dates back before the cold war, but it is full of Soviet museum pieces, including big statues to Stalin.
