1. The Old Town

The architectural reserve is often referred to as a ‘living museum’ where you can visit multiple museums, galleries and of course, the stunning National Revival houses that are architectural masterpieces! There are still some residential homes within the reserve as well as some hotels, guest houses, restaurants and cafes so if you decide you want to spend some more time there, you’ll find plenty to do. Make sure to visit the incredible Ancient Theatre - a 2000-year-old Roman theatre that’s still a functioning venue for many events today! The charming cobblestone streets in the Old Town will take you along a journey going back through thousands of years of history.

The Kapana District is one of Plovdiv’s trendiest neighbourhoods and the perfect place to stop by and get to know the local culture. Over 5 centuries ago the neighbourhood used to be a popular Craftsmen’s district for the local crafts and trade. Nowadays, the once-abandoned urban spaces of Kapana have been transformed into a lovely and vibrant place full of people, local businesses and some of the best venues in town. People love to gather there, along the charming cobblestoned streets, do some shopping or simply sit at one of the many cafes, bars and restaurants and soak in the laid back atmosphere of the city.
3. Main Pedestrian Street

The Main Pedestrian Street in the centre of Plovdiv is actually the longest pedestrian zone in all of Europe. The street boasts with countless cafes, bars, restaurants and shops where you can find all kinds of local products, items as well as international brands. You can have a genuine Bulgarian meal at one of the many restaurants there and taste some local craft beer or wine.
The Main Street connects most of the key sites in town and since it’s entirely pedestrinized it’s very easy to get around and see as much as possible. There are areas for recreation along the street, fountains, a beautiful park and from there you can access the Old Town and many important attractions such as the Roman Odeon, Forum and Stadium.

The Garden of Tsar Simeon is a lovely place to visit and catch some shade during the hot summer days in Plovdiv. The stunning park has plenty of areas for recreation where you can sit down, relax and just watch the people go by. The garden is a very lively place during the warmer months and you’ll find that the locals really love spending time there.

There are countless fountains, children’s playgrounds, benches and the highlight of the garden - the famous singing fountains. You can enjoy a spectacular light show which takes place there every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening from 21:30 (summer season only).
5. Nebet Tepe

Plovdiv is often referred to as the city of 7 hills and Nebet Tepe happens to be one of them. Not only is this charming place a very popular spot where locals love hanging out, but it’s also a very important historical site and the actual birthplace of Plovdiv. Thracian tribes settled in the area (particularly the hill) over 6000 years ago and you can still see some remains on top of Nebet Tepe left from past civilizations (Thracian, Roman, Byzantine).
You’ll find Nebet Tepe at the top of the Old Town and it’s a great place to visit and enjoy the incredible panoramic view of Plovdiv and the surrounding region. Tip: If you visit at sunset you’ll be able to capture some truly magnificent shots!
