Look at four experiences you can have in Douro Valley:
1. Hiking
The walking paths are a way of accessing the fields. Apart from that, they are a window to the cycles of nature, the work and the days in the Douro. Hiking is a way to shows us the magnificent Douro valley: villages, valleys, vineyards and olive trees.
2. Harvesting
Taking part in a harvest is an excellent way to live and experience life as locals do. You can join to a local family and pick grapes, almonds and olives. They will share traditions, joy and food with you.
3. Pruning
Symbolises a new beginning. It’s time to start again. Done in Winter time, is a preparation to a new cycle of life - in this task of cutting and removing the dying branches of the vineyards so that we can improve the form or assure a good production.
4. On the road
Visiting Douro villages and viewpoints. There are some stunning miradouros in Douro to visit and places of History full of stories. You can see the viewpoints of Ervedosa, Ferradosa, Nagozelo and São João da Pesqueira. And of course a local restaurant and some tastings are on the way.
